Yesterday saw I at Waltham the eclipse of the Sun, 1045 digits. The fact that a prediction is fulfilled is the best part of it ; the preternatural half-night which falls upon the Mils, and the violet shade which touches all the clouds. The fine fringes of the cloud made the best smoked glass through which to see the sun, while the shadow encroached upon his face.
