Judge W of Rhode Island was not a great man, and resented some slight he received from Tristram Burgess at the Bar, by asking him if he knew before whom he was speaking. He replied, "Yes, your honour; before the inferior Court of the inferior Bench of the in- ferior State of Rhode Island."
